“ My friend Seri’s father gave me a box of small red spiral notebooks he found at work, and I meticulously wrote my scripts over into three notebooks, passing them to the girls in the neighborhood and directing them how to act out the stories together. "
At age 12, I waited eagerly each week for the next episode of Charlie’s Angels. I had posters of each actress plastered all over my bedroom walls, and I poured over my mom’s gossip magazines, hungry for information about their personal lives. I felt that in some way I knew these women and understood them, even though I wasn’t attracted to them. The summer after the first season ended, I began writing my own scripts and created new episodes because I missed the show so much. My friend Seri’s father gave me a box of small red spiral notebooks he found at work, and I meticulously wrote my scripts over into three notebooks, passing them to the girls in the neighborhood and directing them how to act out the stories together. I was sure I was representing the show pretty well, except I added more emotional scenes between Sabrina, Jill and Kelly because I thought they were pretending to be stronger than they actually were.
